Before Seal Boarders was finished, the Brandons already had begun work on a sequel. Much as UEP's Cool Boarders 2 is a procedural upgrade to its predecessor, Seal Boarders 2 is much the same game as the original -- a little more refined, a little more assured. There are some new features, like the grind bars that now link parts of the game's maps, that give the player a bit more to do.
It's curious, considering the subjective focus of both games, that this sequel serves such a functional role. Were Seal Boarders 2 developed to the extent of the previous game, it would be sort of a replacement game; the original is great, but there's no point in playing it instead of the newer one.
As it happens, Seal Boarders 2 is nowhere nearly as complete as the original; it comprises just three levels and two characters, compared to Seal Boarders' eight and four. Though generally smoother, the new levels are a bit more fidgety than the old ones, and the grinding mechanics aren't quite there yet.
There is progress here, but on balance Seal Boarders 2 stops before it gets a chance to overshadow its predecessor. It's a nice expansion, though.

Background[edit]
John Brandon:
- Cool Boarders 2 came out and I liked it even more than Cool Boarders 1. Naturally I had to make a sequel to Seal Boarders, which hadn't been worked on in a long time by this point. Seal Boarders 2 featured revamped character playability, and all new courses including night courses! There was also a grind button that allowed you to go in a straight line, and by virtue of that fact, actually be able to stay on the straight grind rails. This was also worked on by me and my brother.

Archive history[edit]
On January 21st 2010, Rob Brandon pseudonymously responded to a Reddit thread with a passing comment about Game-Maker. When pressed about his history with the software, he replied that all of his games were stored on a couple of defunct computers, either inaccessible or destroyed.
Over 31 months later on August 23th 2012, John Brandon commented on a YouTube clip that he had found an archive of his and his brother's old games. The next day he composed a long e-mail describing the contents of a jumbled collection of gameware files, adding up to an ostensible sixteen games. All of the games were in pieces, many of them incomplete.
Over the next five months, through regular consultation, the games were all reassembled as well as the materials would permit. The games were reconstructed or otherwise recovered on the following dates:
