Story[edit]
- A nightmare occurs at night
- in your dreams, but in an
- ultimare reality is as strange
- as it seems.
- The clock struck twelve,
- And all was quiet.
- The moon was full.
- Twas monsters'night.
- Vision of a ghoul
- Came into sight.
- I lay there soul
- Filled with fright.
- Closer closer crept it then,
- Closer to the bed I lay in
- Crept what surely was a goblin.
- Holding an impulsive scream,
- Hoping that this figure groping
- Was confined within a dream,
- Was not that which it did seem,
- I lay there without a scream.
- The creaking ofthe wooden floor,
- Creaking louder even more,
- Filled my soul with awe & gore.
- Nearer nearer did it creep,
- Likely thinking I asleep,
- Innocently counting sheep.
- Now it was beside my bed.
- Undersheet I kept my head,
- Entire body filled with dread.
- Soon I feared I would be dead.
- Its lips touched my cheek,
- Under sheet I kept my head.
- "Ghoul or ghost,
- Whichever are ye,"
- Screamed I to it to spare me.
- Answering not my frantic plea,
- It stood its place silently.
- Now I flung aside the sheet,
- And letting out
- A piercing shreak:
- Withholding fear
- With all my might,
- Stumbling forward,
- Madly fumbling,
- I found the switch,
- Turned on the light.
- Looking there
- Where monster stood,
- Mother's face came into sight.
