Puzzle consists of just one screen, and indeed one puzzle. As experiments go, it's pretty limited in scope. Yet it's also a kind of decent idea. Perhaps it's not enough to drive a whole game, but as a challenge in the middle of a larger adventure, a word puzzle like this would be a great change of pace.
It seems unlikely that the puzzle is meant to be very difficult in this case. Across the room is a locked coffin. A voice cue taunts the player about the ability to find a key. There are three rows of paving stones, each affixed with a random letter. Step onto the right letter, and you're free to choose the next one. Choose the wrong letter, and you melt into a puddle of blood and bones.
As usual for Eclypse, the atmospherics are splendid. The game looks professional, as far as it goes, and the voice samples even carry the right weight. The final sample clips off and occasionally goes corrupt, but that mostly seems to be a problem of the Xferplay engine.
Thematically and tonally, the game is probably inspired by Trilobyte's The 7th Guest.
Instructions[edit]
