The Adam's Birthday series serves as one of the more reliable barometers for its author Alan Caudel's shifting skill and focus as a designer. The yearly cycle helps to chart and lend context to Caudel's work as a whole, offering an uncommon extended insight to a creative process.

Adam '96, as one of the later recoveries from Caudel's early work, bridges a gap in this path, resting between the manic excess of Adam '95 and its contemporaries (Lil' Choklit Donit Man; Mr. Berkel Derkel!) and the calmer elegance of Adam '97.
